Dizzy’s Jazz

We created a video with Chuck Perrin of Dizzy’s Jazz in San Diego exploring the background and inspiration for the the local jazz staple.

The Method

At Storybook Creative we love to learn and we use that passion to make high-end docu-style videos. It starts with listening and hearing your stories, with an idea, a concept. Then we move on to research, learning all we can about your business and the subject matter. From there we look at what historical or existing media assets exist that the project should utilize.

The creativity rolls out and we start planning and structuring the video. We identify who needs to be interviewed and begin scheduling. This leads to one or multiple shoots gathering interviews, testimonials and b-roll, sometimes following a subject for a-day-in-the-life.

After shooting we organize all the media and determine what is still needed. Throughout the entire process we are uncovering the story and watching it form. In the edit we piece together the most powerful story to reach your goals.

Our Documentary Film Projects

Victory Vertical Pianos of WWII

During World War II, Steinway & Sons built ruggedized pianos for the government. These Victory Vertical pianos, as they came to be known, were distributed around the world on ships, in jeeps and reputedly by parachute from airplanes. Music boosted soldier morale and was a priority for the Allies during the war. The pianos supported music among the troops, USO shows and military dance bands. Sounds of Victory is a documentary film project about these G.I. pianos and examines music from the era and its ability to affect emotions and boost morale in the most trying of times.

Behind the Nostalgia

Behind the Nostalgia is a documentary series exploring the stories behind our favorite tales and characters.

About Documentaries
